About
A family-friendly, second-run neighborhood theater in Montavilla with three screens, budget tickets, and pizza-and-a-pint service. A Portland favorite for catching recent releases — and the occasional repertory gem — without the multiplex price.
The Academy Theater opened in 1948 as a single-screen neighborhood movie house in Montavilla. After years dark it was lovingly restored and reopened in 2006 as a three-screen second-run cinema — beloved for its low ticket prices, local beer, and Flying Pie pizza delivered to your seat.
