A three-screen independent landmark on NW 21st Avenue, anchored by a spacious historic main auditorium. Cinema 21 programs first-run independent, foreign, and documentary films alongside repertory revivals, midnight movies, and festival engagements — a cornerstone of Portland's film culture.
Cinema 21 occupies a 1926 movie house in Portland's Northwest District that took its current name in 1963. For decades a beloved single-screen arthouse, it expanded into the neighboring storefront in 2017 to add two smaller auditoriums while keeping its grand original theater intact. It remains one of the city's premier destinations for independent and foreign cinema.
