Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall is the Oregon Symphony's concert hall, which hosts film concerts with live orchestra, in Downtown (Broadway), Portland, open since 1928. This week it's showing Psycho — next showtime Wed, Oct 28, 7:30 PM.

About

A gilded, 2,700-plus-seat Italian Renaissance–style hall and part of Portland'5 Centers for the Arts. We list its film concerts: the Oregon Symphony plays a film's complete score live while the movie screens above the stage. Expect anything from Hitchcock and silent classics to Star Wars and Harry Potter. Tickets are sold by the Oregon Symphony.

Built as the Portland Publix Theatre, a vaudeville and movie palace designed by Rapp and Rapp, it opened in March 1928 and was renamed the Paramount in 1930. It showed films until 1972 and then hosted concerts, until the city bought and restored it. In 1984 it reopened as the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, home of the Oregon Symphony, and the towering "Portland" sign over the Broadway marquee was restored. Locals call it "the Schnitz." It is the last of the old theater buildings on Broadway.
