Week of June 25 – July 1, 2026
68 films across 17 independent theaters in Portland this week. Well the hits keep on coming and I don't mean the ones to various balls in Jackass: Best and Last! Supergirl is here to continue the new James Gunn DC Universe. If the last Superman is any indication, it should be a fun ride. Plus Krypto is back!

I can't recommend Terrance Malick's Days of Heaven enough. Probably one of the best films of the 70's, if not of all time. When I was in film school for cinematography, this is the film we studied. Nestor Almendros shot most of the film painting with light, but the production ran long and the great Haskell Wexler was brought in to finish the job. Nestor won the Academy Award. At first Haskell was a bit upset about that, but he decided that was a bit selfish. Wexler had his Oscars for Bound for Glory in 1976 and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf in 1966. Enjoy this classic!
